Lower-demand soft-snow comparison

assess whether a demanding tilt is contributing to disruption.

HOW TO DO IT

Lower-demand soft-snow comparison

assess whether a demanding tilt is contributing to disruption.

Preparation and setting

Document board width, boot size, binding position and known overhang without changing them all at once. Use familiar soft snow with an easy exit for a conservative comparison. Do not deliberately reproduce a violent catch to diagnose it. Repeated unexplained interruptions call for equipment and terrain review before further high-angle attempts.

Exercise task

  1. after a non-injury event and a safe inspection, return to an easier soft section and ride a moderate guided turn with visibly less tilt. Do not recreate the original extreme position.

Observe and diagnose

Observe: glide, drag, steering and exit.

Transfer and success check

adapt a carving goal to the day's surface. Success means predictable support; the test can suggest a direction for investigation but cannot certify clearance at every speed or depth.

Regression

smooth shallow soft snow.

Progression

ordinary linked turns, not an immediate return to maximum angle.
