Drill

No-Contact Heel-Side Lowering

Develop heel lowering with a coordinated pelvis/trunk relationship.

HOW TO DO IT

No-Contact Heel-Side Lowering

Develop heel lowering with a coordinated pelvis/trunk relationship.

Preparation and setting

Repeatable heel arc and ordinary toe exit; actual clearance reviewed. Quiet smooth visible lane.

Exercise sequence

  1. Ride a familiar heel arc without reaching toward the snow.
  2. Add modest inward movement while keeping pelvis related to both feet.
  3. Lengthen partway within support, retaining reserve; avoid a seated pelvis with a folded-forward chest.
  4. Shorten early and enter an ordinary toe turn. Stop deliberately.
  5. Compare the heel path with baseline. If support changes abruptly, inspect surface/clearance as well as posture.

Transfer

Move to ED14 only after individual recovery is predictable; assess heel readiness separately from toe.

Errors addressed

Seated heel smear; Forced nose-facing torso; Rescue arm swing into toe entry.

Observable success

Lowering and return work without torso collapse or a hand-dependent exit.

Regression

Reduce depth and use ED03 for comfortable orientation. Do not force a fixed visual angle to repair the arc.
