Drill
Pitch-change single turn
HOW TO DO IT
Pitch-change single turn
detect retreat at the moment terrain steepens.
Preparation and setting
Required: controlled skidded turns and stops on both edges, an intentional sideslip and a reliable single turn on easier terrain. Choose a short, progressively steeper section with a generous runout and trustworthy snow. Initial transfer should be observed by an instructor. Do not introduce steeper pitch and hard ice together.
Exercise task
- make one familiar skidded turn beginning above a modest pitch change and finishing in a clear corridor below it. The observer watches when the pelvis shifts relative to the feet and when steering becomes difficult.
Transfer and success check
AMTA-11 on a short steeper section. Success means the rider can guide and complete the turn without either a rearward collapse or forward lunge. Apparent posture from an oblique camera is insufficient; combine it with the board response.
Regression
smaller pitch change or ordinary single turn.
Progression
opposite edge, then a pair.
