Term

Press

A position or action emphasising support toward one board end, usually with the opposite end elevated.

GLOSSARY · Freestyle & trick grammar

In a press the rider shifts weight onto the nose or tail so the other end lifts off the snow or feature, bending the board. Presses are basic flatground and jib tricks — nose press and tail press — and the start of many butters.

Context and distinction

A press holds one end down; a slide travels along a feature; a stall stops on it; a tap is a brief touch. The body position can look similar, so the action defines the name.
