Push-Pull Timing Study

Analysing a verified demonstration using flexion, rotation and extension timestamps.

HOW TO DO IT

Single-Arc Small Push-Pull Cycle

Learn changing board/body distance within a supported arc.

Preparation and setting

Moderate clean baseline on the chosen edge, mobile joints, clear stopping exit. No contact.

Exercise sequence

  1. Enter a familiar arc with modest flexion and spare movement range.
  2. After a usable working-edge response, lengthen gradually within the developing arc. Keep the board’s path familiar.
  3. Shorten toward the finish so the board returns closer beneath the body. Avoid sitting back or adding an arm swing.
  4. Exit deliberately and compare with an ordinary arc at similar demand.
  5. Repeat on the other edge. Increase range only after both support and recovery remain repeatable.

Transfer

Transfer to ED07 pairs. If the next entry fails, inspect the first finish rather than enlarge the movement.

Errors addressed

Upward pop at entry; Range exhausted before finish; Aft seated recovery.

Observable success

Lengthening and shortening are observable without locking, abrupt vertical rescue or lost exit.

Regression

Use ED05 and a smaller non-contact arc. A blended stopping exit is allowed and assessed separately.

Purpose: check whether the timing matches the attributed model. An instructor should select terrain and difficulty; no laydown, airborne edge change or prescribed maximum inclination is required.
