Transition-only focus
HOW TO DO IT
Transition-only focus
identify whether disruption occurs at release or re-engagement.
Preparation and setting
Use a shallow consistent soft section where balance and stopping already work. Establish AMTA-13 and one controlled powder turn on each edge. Avoid beginning with abrupt hard-to-deep transitions, steep confined lines or breakable crust. Keep the first task to a pair of shallow direction changes.
Exercise task
- ride two shallow arcs, observing only the connection between them. Note any nose dive, sudden sideways rotation or abrupt stall and its timing. On the next attempt change one input: usually reduce an abrupt new-edge movement while preserving the route.
Transfer and success check
use the same timing awareness in tracked powder. Success means the new arc begins with recoverable support and no emergency correction.
Regression
one shallow arc in thinner soft snow.
Progression
the opposite transition, then a short linked set.
