Drill
Turn–settle–turn
HOW TO DO IT
Turn–settle–turn
make readiness for the next turn observable.
Preparation and setting
Required: heel and toe sideslips, intentional stops on both edges and separate turns on easier terrain. Practice the full sequence on a familiar pitch first. A steep hard surface where a sideslip cannot be stopped is unsuitable. Keep the lane wide enough for the entire single turn.
Exercise task
- after each single turn, establish a stable sideslip and verbally confirm the next turning space before releasing. The verbal step is removed once planning becomes reliable.
Observe and diagnose
Observe: whether descent can be regulated and both feet regain useful support.
Transfer and success check
a short steeper section with the same fallback. This corrects rushing, incomplete finishes and confused edge changes; it is not an exercise in rapid edge flipping.
Regression
separate turns ending in a complete stop on easier terrain.
Progression
reduce the pause, then link a pair.
