Drill

Two arcs, one planned finish

separate momentum preservation from loss of speed control.

HOW TO DO IT

Two arcs, one planned finish

separate momentum preservation from loss of speed control.

Preparation and setting

Required: AMTA-13, smooth edge changes on familiar snow, and the ability to stop intentionally in the chosen soft conditions. Use a short open section with known continuation. If the rider cannot control speed on that pitch, select a different area rather than relying on deeper snow to provide braking.

Exercise task

  1. identify two turning spaces and a final stop. Ride shallow connected arcs while keeping enough direction change to remain inside the corridor. Record whether the second transition is slower, similar or faster than the first.

Transfer and success check

preserve useful travel before a known runout. Success means completing the planned stop as well as avoiding a stall; both are required.

Regression

one arc and stop in shallower snow.

Progression

a third arc only after the speed trend is intentional.
